This post is kind of different form a lot of the ones you are probably used to reading on my blog, but I wanted to address something.
People have asked me, “Why aren’t you more like Ray Higdon?”
Then they go on to ask me a whole slew of questions, things like:
- Why don’t you wear a suit?
- Why do you have a beard?
- How come you sometimes cuss in your videos?
- Why don’t you be more like Ray Higdon?
And some people don’t like my answer, but it’s pretty simple.
I’m not more like Ray Higdon, because I’m not Ray Higdon.
I’m Alvin Tims.
I’m my own unique person.
And until you get it out of your head that you need to be more like someone else to be successful in your business, you’ll never make it.
You’ll always struggle, and wonder why you’re struggling.
I learned a long time ago that I’m going to attract who I’m going to attract.
Certain types of people are never going to like me, and that’s completely fine.
I don’t want to do business with just anyone. I’m not here just to attract the shady “get rich quick” type people. I’m not here to try schmooze with other marketers and try to recruit “big leaders” into my orginaztion. Quite frankly, I don’t want big leaders because they have a lot of bad habits that I have to try to break. And then I have to retrain them on the right way to do things. It’s a headache.
I’d rather take an average Joe off the street and teach them the right way to do things from day one and watch them crush it. Everyday people. Blue collar folks, and people that are just fed up with the crap that life has thrown at them.
I’ll never be Ray Higdon.
But I am Alvin Tims.
You better remember the name. 😉
(PS This post is in no way disparaging of Ray Higdon. I don’t even know the guy. He seems nice enough. This post was just random. Love ya Ray, don’t kill me 🙂 )
